Islington based author, Sophie Placido, publishes children’s book aimed at teaching children the importance of being true to themselves

London, August 2022

London resident, Sophie Placido, has this month released her first children’s book, The Happy Puppy.

Written in rhyme The Happy Puppy picture book is an amusing, heart-warming tale about acceptance, love and being true to yourself.

At the heart of the book is a moral tale about the importance of doing what you love to do and being who you are inside – whoever that may be. In the hope that as many children as possible will be able to relate to the story, no gender pronoun has been assigned to The Happy Puppy.

Aimed at children from 2-7 years old, the vocabulary used is appropriate for early years and key stage one readers, but it also includes some words that younger children may not have encountered before - providing them with a safe space to learn new phrases and explore synonyms with the help of rhyme.

The Happy Puppy blurb:

The Happy Puppy loves to jump. In fact, the Happy Puppy wants to learn to jump just like a cat! But Mum and Dad have a very different idea of what dogs should do for fun.

On a journey of discovery, the Happy Puppy enjoys running over fields, swimming with swans and learning to play ‘chase your tail’. But Pup still dreams of jumping. Can a chance meeting with a friendly, wise cat help show the Happy Puppy the importance of following your heart?

The Happy Puppy is the first children’s book from Sophie Placido and is currently available to buy from Amazon, Waterstones, Blackwell’s, Book Depository, and Barnes & Noble.

It is also available as an eBook on Apple Books, Kobo and Scribd.
